Department of Education (DE)

The implementation process in the Department of Education is managed by a Programme Board chaired by Will Haire.

Within education the RPA is seen as the most influential reform in a generation. The proposed restructuring will transform administration and enable more resources to be available for schools, benefiting our children and young people.

The Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, received the support of the Executive in July to establish the Eucation and Skills Authority (ESA) by April 2009 at the latest, and work is underway to achieve this

The Department has also established an RPA Stakeholders Group to advise it in particular on the development of new arrangements and the mechanisms to support and facilitate these at local level.
